Mally & Mo™ is a comic series designed for fire departments and public safety organizations. Each coloring sheet episode introduces essential, modern fire safety topics through the misadventures of a clever young girl and her clumsy pet dragon.

Our job at Mally & Mo™ is to help you capture kids’ attention. You can take it from there by attaching a short, relevant video to each lesson so families hear safety message directly from you. We knew that if we wanted to spark a real and memorable connection with kids (and impact families across communities), we would need kid consultants. Our heroes were developed with the support of elementary-aged kid consultants, and every episode is vetted to make sure the language, lesson (and even the humor) won’t be lost on our kiddo audience.

  • Kids already love comics. Research from the National Literacy Trust shows that about 40% of children ages 8–18 read comics or graphic novels at least once a month, making comics one of the most popular reading formats for young people.
  • Kids are highly engaged with video. A large majority of children regularly watch online video: 81% of parents say their children age 11 or younger watch videos on YouTube, and many kids do so frequently.
  • Educational research consistently shows that narrative learning improves engagement and comprehension in children because it mirrors how kids naturally process information through characters, conflict, and resolution

When your pet is a very clumsy dragon, your safety game has to be on point. Meet Mally, a clever, safety-savvy kid who knows that life with a dragon can get a little… unpredictable. Whether she’s teaching Mo how to call 911 on a smartphone or dealing with the occasional highly flammable dragon burp, Mally is always thinking ahead. With quick thinking, lots of practice, and a heavy dose of patience for her lovable (but accident-prone) dragon, she helps Mo and her family learn how to stay calm, stay smart, and stay safe, no matter what surprises pop up next.

What's Mally & Mo™ like?

Mally & Mo™ is a black-and-white, kid-friendly comic coloring sheet that introduces one safety topic per episode. It’s designed to grab kids’ attention, spark conversations at home, and fuel a direct connection between public safety organizations and the families in their community.  Each episode includes a scannable code where local public safety organizations can upload a personalized safety video for Mally & Mo™ readers and their families.

How are the comics packaged?

Episodes are sold as single-sheet 8.5 × 11 black-and-white pages, and they will be distributed by topic. Bundled packs and booklets may be offered in the future. Mally & Mo is designed to be completely turnkey, and we offer easy ordering and delivery with white-glove support along the way. 

How can I order Mally & Mo™ comics?

We’ve launched our pilot episode, “How To Call 911 On A Smartphone”, which is available now! To license for your organization, reach out to our team. We are releasing additional episodes starting Spring of 2026.

How do the videos work? Who makes them?

We recommend recording genuine, Facetime-style videos that contain the message you’ve always wanted to share with households in your communities. Public safety organizations can record the video themselves, using a phone or basic camera, and then upload it by scanning their Spokenote code and attaching their video in one click.

Each episode of Mally & Mo™ comes with helpful tips on how to record your video, and what you might consider for inclusion, based on our research to date.

Do we need to hire professional video partners?

No! What makes Mally & Mo™ so powerful is our partnership with Spokenote, which allows organizations to easily upload their own content. In fact, 63% of consumers say they prefer authentic videos to polished productions, and video messages are remembered far more effectively because they combine visuals, voice, and emotion. For best results, organizations actually do not need a high level of polish. Record it on a phone in the vertical format (94% of smartphone users hold their phones vertically when watching content) and think of it as a video message voicemail, right from you to the families in your community, treating it like a one-to-one genuine, personal communication. Can I add my organization’s logo and information?

Yes. Custom branding is included for public safety organizations. Your logo and website will be applied under the title of the comic and on the header of your video page.

For sponsors and community partners who want to help broaden the reach of local public safety organizations, we follow clear guidelines to ensure the comic remains appropriate for kids and that safety messages from public agencies are never diluted by advertising. Sponsors and partners receive recognition through logo placement beneath the comic title and their logo inline above the the safety video on the Spokenote page (with approval from the participating public safety organization).

I'm interested in a sponsorship or community partnership. What now?

Our safety messages are delivered by public safety professionals or health and safety experts, but these organizations may want the support of a sponsor or a community partner to alleviate costs and expand reach. Do you distribute comics directly to parents and families?

At this time, Mally & Mo™ is designed to be distributed in collaboration with public safety organizations. However, we are exploring opportunities to help parents teach their kiddos important safety messages.
